Rally Blog Underway

Well the Region C Rally actually came and went. I am now starting an official collection of Region C Rally Photo Sites. If you have a photo collection from the rally posted, please send me the link and I'll get it added to the list. If you need some space to post your own photos, let me know also. I have that available for you. Also watch the Nebraska POD page as some new photos were added there too.

Next year we will be heading up to Spearfish SD for the rally. I really look forward to getting up in that neck of the woods again too. I've never been to that area so I will start thinking about that soon! Although I've never actually stopped there before, that'll change next year. Watch for the new Region C Rally BLOG to pop up in the future! The actual date for the event has yet to be determined but as soon as it is released to me, I'll post in here.

Until next time...

Region C Update June 2009
Region C Update

June 21, 2009

Have you all been riding? So far the weather in my neck of the woods has been great. Just one month into the riding season and I have been to so many Fun Runs, Dinner Runs and just enjoying all of my friends company. Region C Rally in Chippewa Falls is just a memory now, but what a memory it is. We had record numbers there and so much fun. To tell you the truth I don’t know how we did it all in three days. Thank you all so much for coming to Wisconsin to help us celebrate Destination Friendship.

If you have not heard yet, next years Region C Rally will be in Spearfish, South Dakota. I am looking forward to seeing many of you there next year. We have already started some of the planning and I am sure that all of you will enjoy the fun and friendship that goes hand in hand with our Region C Rallies. If you have something you would like to see or do in Spearfish please let me or your State Director know about it so that we can try to get it worked into the Rally.

Gold Rush is coming up very soon. Are you going? This years Gold Rush is going to be one of the biggest and the best we have ever had. There will be several vendors available this year along with some of the most beautiful scenery and roads that you would ever hope to see. Your National Staff works very hard to make sure that you enjoy your time at Gold Rush, all that we ask in return is that you come prepared to have fun. One of the many Awards given out each year at Gold Rush is the State Spirit Award. It would be great to have one of our Region C States bring home that prestigious honor. Do you know what it takes to win this? It is so much easier than most of our members realize. All it takes is what you are already there for, having fun. Pick two to three things that you want to do at Gold Rush and participate and then make sure everyone else knows which state you are from. It really is not a great mystery why some states have won this award several times. They come to let their hair down and to enjoy themselves.

Bike Raffle Tickets are lagging behind just a little. We still have time to sell those tickets and as tired as I know all of you are of hearing this we all count on these sales to help finance our National GWTA organization. Our National is here to serve you, the members. The sad truth is it does take money for any group to run efficiently. Please continue to sell those tickets and have them turned into your state Raffle Ticket Coordinator in time so that they can send them to me by the 27 of June so that I in turn can count them and get them turned into our National office by the end of the month. I will still be accepting sold Raffle Tickets at Gold Rush but please make sure that you get them to me so that your State and Region C will get credit for those sales.

Have you considered just how your chapter operates? Your Chapter exists because of the volunteers that graciously donate their time to help make your chapter a fun place to be. I have seen all to often that new members are reluctant to get involved because they think they lack the experience some of our tenured members have. Don’t fool yourselves. I have seen all to many times how much the excitement of a new member can revitalize a chapter that has fallen into a rut. Others come up with the excuse” I don’t have the time”. If you have used that line you are fooling no one but yourselves. Our volunteers are the ones that are truly enjoying the friendships they have made with all of us in GWTA.

We have a new Region C Riders Education Director, Mark and Diana Bauduin. I have spoken with Mark and what we would both like to see in Region C as to helping our States and our Chapters continue to promote motorcycle safety. Mark is very anxious to work with the Region C State RED’s. If your State does not have a RED both Mark and I encourage you to get one. And to let Mark know about their contact information so that Mark can communicate on safety motorcycle issues to help your state not only be safer riders but also help be a recruiting tool for new members.
